Participation Awards 2019 Winners Announced

Social housing tenants and landlords from across Wales came together on the 3rd July to celebrate the very best in tenant involvement activity at our annual Participation Awards at the Park Inn, Cardiff.

The TPAS Cymru awards showcase the commitment, dedication, passion and flair of the innovative and creative people who are nominated. A variety of projects and schemes that empower, involve and engage tenants were selected, along with the inspirational work carried out by individuals for the Tenant of the Year, Young Tenant of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Over the years, this event has grown from strength to strength and by now we see it as the “Oscars” of the participation world celebrating the hard work that landlords and tenants do in 11 different categories. This year were very fortunate to have Dot Davies as our host. Dot is familiar to many from her work on BBC Wales, ITV Wales, S4C, BBC Sports, Radio 5 Live and Radio 4, and more recently on Radio Wales on weekday mornings.

2019’s submissions were of a high standard and they truly captured the imagination of the judges, not only the quality of the written material sent in, but the innovative and imaginative range of projects and initiatives being undertaken in Wales. The list of winners and the individual categories' sponsors can be found here.

We are especially grateful to all our independent judges who have given their time to review and assess the nominations:

  • Michelle Wales – Head of Campaigns, Shelter Cymru
  • Jordan Brewer - Policy & Communications Officer, Cymorth Cymru
  • Linzi Jones - Local Digital Inclusion Co-ordinator, Wales Co-op
  • Allison Hulmes - National Director for Wales, BASW
  • Charlotte Harrison – Do-Well (UK) Ltd
  • Wendy Dearden – Housing Consultant
  • Colm McDaid – Chief Executive, Supporting Communities Northern Ireland
  • Marc Fury - Lecturer in Housing, Cardiff Metropolitan University
  • Ceri Meloy - Head of Business, Tai Pawb
  • Jenny Osbourne – Chief Executive, TPAS England
  • Jayne Bellis – Managing Director, Pennysmart

In the current financial climate, an event of this scale would not be possible were it not for the commitment, efforts and support of a variety of people. TPAS Cymru would like to formally record our thanks to the main sponsors of TPAS Cymru during 2019, Wales & West Housing, and our Tenant Voice Sponsors for 2019, Pobl Group. We would also like to thank those organisations who have exhibited and sponsored the individual award categories this year, without whose support, the day would not be possible.
