Solar, storage and you. Let’s start the conversation
With rising energy prices, could solar panels and battery storage help you take control of your energy bills?
Across the UK, more people are turning to solar power. In 2025, 269,000 new solar installations were completed, 37% more than the previous year. In Wales, the Welsh Housing Quality Standard also sets ambitions for social homes to become more energy efficient, affordable to heat and environmentally sustainable.
But funding and technology alone cannot make this happen. Through our listening, we have understood how limited awareness, unanswered questions and concerns about changes to the home can prevent people from taking up opportunities, even when improvements are fully funded.
The opportunity for greater energy independence is powerful: generating and storing electricity at home can help households buy less from the grid and have more control over their energy costs. Renters need clear information and space to explore what this could mean for them.
That is where our workshop sessions can come. Through practical workshops and community conversations, TPAS Cymru is bringing tenants together to explore solar panels and battery storage, hear real experiences and share their questions and concerns.
Whether you are curious, unsure or already have solar panels, your voice matters.
So, what will happen?
The sessions will run in two stages, beginning with community workshops exploring solar panels, battery storage and wider home energy improvements.
These friendly, practical sessions will give you the opportunity to:
-
Overview of how solar panels and batteries work and what installation involves.
-
Explore potential benefits, limitations and common challenges.
-
Find out about relevant funding and support.
-
Hear about residents’ experiences and ask questions.
-
Share your views, concerns and ideas.
We are planning in-person workshops in communities across Wales, alongside at least one online session for people who cannot attend in person. No technical knowledge is needed.

Details of the second stage of the project will be added here as the programme develops.
Help others in your community
We also want to hear from tenants interested in sharing their experiences and helping neighbours understand solar and battery storage. Share this opportunity with them.
