Safer Buildings in Wales: what it means for you

Monday 11th October: 10.30am – 12.00pm

Join us for the opening webinar of our TPAS Cymru Health and Safety week.

Hear from the inspirational Gill Kernick, the author of "Catastrophe and Systemic Change: Learning from the Grenfell Tower Fire and Other Disasters" who will open our Health and Safety week looking at why we fail to learn from such tragedies and why the voices of tenants are so important.

Michael Corrigan, Residents Reform Policy Manager, Welsh Government will provide an overview of the 3 key areas of resident reform Welsh Government want to introduce under the new Building Safety Regime; engagement, responsibilities and complaints. The session will also include an update on next steps on the Safer Buildings in Wales consultation and plans for future consultation and engagement.

Matt Kennedy, CIH Cymru and Bethan Proctor, CHC, will talk about The ‘Safer Buildings in Wales’ White Paper that will introduce large-scale changes to how housing providers ensure the safety of homes. Bethan and Matt will consider how organisational culture, approaches to tenant engagement and good governance will play a leading role in supporting the refreshed approach and reflect on how organisations prepare for change drawing on examples of good practice from Wales and beyond.
