A webinar for Social Housing professionals on how to recognise, respond to and reduce suicide risk across housing staff, maintenance/trades teams, and tenants - delivered jointly by Samaritans Cymru and TPAS Cymru.

Social Housing professionals - leaders, maintenance & trades, housing officers, tenant support, resident engagement, and related roles

• In 2024, Wales recorded 436 suicides - a suicide rate of 15.7 per 100,000.
• Workers in manual or trade based occupations - many of whom serve social housing - face significantly elevated suicide risk.
• Social housing tenants and staff often live and work in communities under social and economic pressure - increasing vulnerability and underlining the urgent need for awareness and prevention.

• The latest data for Wales: suicide risk levels, trends and the link to housing and trade related occupations
• The role of awareness and listening: how simple, trained listening and support can identify and help people who may be struggling
• Practical steps organisations can take: suicide prevention and active listening training, peer support, early intervention and embedding supportive practices across housing associations, maintenance teams, tenant engagement and community services.
