What it is:
A friendly online session for tenants, which is part of a new project with Samaritans Cymru and TPAS Cymru, to help everyone in our housing community recognise when someone might be struggling, learn listening and support skills, and know how to get help. These sessions are divided between each NHS region.

Tenant Webinar: Reducing Suicide Risk in Our Housing Community

Who it’s for: All tenants, residents, community groups.

• Recent data show that Wales has one of the highest suicide rates in the UK with rates highest in the poorest electoral ward areas in Wales.
• Stress from housing, money, or life challenges can affect wellbeing and we want to make sure people don’t feel alone
• Everyone can play a part in preventing suicides, recognising risk and putting appropriate support o and signposting in place.

• Understand the risks and how to spot the signs that someone may be struggling
• Learn simple tips on how to become a better listener and help someone to open up about how they are feeling
• How to help signpost friends, neighbours or family in your housing community for further support

• A chance to talk and learn in a safe, supportive space
• Useful tools and information to help you support others - and yourself
• The confidence to contact or signpost to support services (charities, community groups, housing staff)

You don’t need any experience - just an open mind and a willingness to help.  We hope you will join us. Together, we can build a stronger, kinder community where everyone feels heard and supported. Most importantly, we can potentially save lives.
