Sensors in Homes: Making Your Home Comfortable, Safe, and Energy-Efficient

Creating better homes or big brother?

Wednesday 9th July 2025 | 2:00pm – 3:15pm |

More and more homes are using sensors to help with heating, energy use, and maintenance. But while these technologies can make homes more comfortable and efficient, they also raise concerns-Are we being watched? Do we have control? This session will explore how sensors are being used in homes today, how they can help tenants save money and create safer, healthier, and more comfortable living spaces, while also addressing concerns about privacy and control.

We are inviting iOpt, a key member of our Net Zero Supporter Club, to share expert insights and practical examples on how sensors can benefit tenants. No prior knowledge is needed-this is for everyone. Whether you're a tenant, housing professional, or community volunteer, this session will demystify what sensors do, how they support Net Zero goals, and how they can enhance comfort, safety, and affordability.

 Speakers include:

  • Jonny McKinley – Marketing Manager, iOpt
  • Ross McCartney – ORP Deployment Manager, Installer & Tenant Liaison Lead, iOpt
  • Mark Delbridge – Account Director for Welsh Customers, iOpt
What you’ll learn:
  • How sensors help cut energy waste and improve home comfort
  • Real stories from sensor installs across Wales
