What are tenants really saying about heating costs, smart meters, and home energy assessments in 2026?

Sixth All-Wales Annual Tenant Pulse:

Energy Efficiency & Affordable Warmth Debrief

Wednesday, 22nd April | 10.00am - 11.00am

What are tenants really saying about heating costs, smart meters, and home energy assessments in 2026?

The Sixth All-Wales Annual Tenant Pulse brings together insights from more than 500 tenants across Wales, capturing how people are experiencing their homes in a period of continued change.

Changes in energy costs are affecting how tenants manage heating and affordability at home. At the same time, updates to EPC requirements in the private rented sector, along with ongoing home assessments and communication linked to WHQS work, are shaping expectations around energy efficiency and housing standards.

This year’s findings provide insights into:

  • How tenants are managing heating affordability
  • Their perspectives on smart meters and EPC
  • Experiences of home assessments, upgrades, and communication around ongoing works

These insights reflect what matters most to tenants today and how policy, investment, and delivery are being felt in everyday homes and communities.

Who’s it for?

Suitable for tenants, all staff who work in housing and tenants, along with stakeholders in the housing sector.
