WHQS consultation – Staff and tenants EXTRA SESSION

This is an extra consultation session for those tenants and staff unable to get a place on 8^th or 9^th June

Please join us for an information and discussion session on the proposed updates to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS). A formal consultation is currently open.

WHQS has been around since 2002 and sets the standard for all existing social homes in Wales. It covers everything in the home e.g. energy efficiency, kitchens, bathrooms, gardens. Details of the current standard can be found in these links:

WHQS has achieved much, and improved homes over 20 years but a new and updated version of WHQS is now needed. It will look familiar but will aim to drive us forward in tackling affordable warmth and decarbonisation and other issues such as flooring throughout the home and water efficiency.

We want to make the most of the opportunity – the new WHQS is likely to be with us for a long time and we want to get the best standard we can. To do that, we need the views of tenants and staff who are directly impacted by the changes. In this session we will gather feedback and provide information on how you can respond directly to the consultation.

This extra consultation session is suitable for tenants or staff who have not been able to book a place on 8^th or 9^th June.

Please note this is NOT a technical consultation session.  As TPAS Cymru we’ve arranged this session for tenants, and front-line staff who act in a liaison/supported housing type role who can share the views of tenants about WHQS 2 and/or how and what WHQS 2 information is communicated to tenants about how it will be implemented.

NB:  Welsh Government are holding consultation sessions for LAs and RSLs about the technical aspects of WHQS 2 on 7^th and 14^th June
