Briefing: WG’s Housing Conditions and Disrepair Report What you need to know

Tuesday, 15th February: 2pm – 2.45pm

During 2021, ITV News did a series of news articles exposing shocking failures in the conditions of some social housing in England.

In response, Welsh Government wrote to all Social Landlords (Housing Associations + Local Authorities) asking them questions about their housing stock, their monitoring, their complaints process and claims statistics etc. Welsh Governments’ aim was to seek assurance from CEO’s/Chairs that as a sector there is suitable monitoring to avoid the shocking scenes exposed in England.

The landlords had to respond by mid July 2021.

Given the strong feedback we received in the last All Wales Tenant Pulse regarding housing conditions inc mould and damp, TPAS Cymru had been chasing for publication of this report.

So what we believe is:

  1. The report is expected to be finally published on Friday 11th February 2022
  2. We’ve been told that it's 'not a report'.
  3. It will not contain recommendations or best practice, but will contain examples and ‘think points’
  4. It will not contain data or comment on individual landlords, but focus more on learnings.

Confused?   We are here to help!  We are offering a free briefing session for members under our ‘PassNotes’ series i.e. Background, Overview of the ‘not a report’, Key themes/takeaways, and pose questions tenant groups might want to ask for their landlords.

Suitable for all – tenants and housing staff alike.

When: Tuesday 15th Feb at 2pm.  45mins max. Member only event

Cost: its Free to staff & tenants who are members of TPAS Cymru.
