Renting Homes Model Contracts – What you need to know

Thursday 20th May at 11:00 – 13:00

Join us and Welsh Government officials to get an update on The Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016, in particular the current important consultation on the draft model written contracts which will replace existing tenant agreements and licenses.

We have invited Welsh Government and the Renting Homes lead for South Wales to share insight into the model contracts and what it means to tenants and landlords.

Also, during this session, we will delve into the look and feel of the model contracts and what they will mean once the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 is implemented.

Don’t miss this opportunity to get updated and in the know on these important proposed changes.

Who’s this session for?

We want to give staff, tenants and those with an interest in housing the opportunity to feel fully informed and updated to help you feed into this consultation.

Cost:

Tenants: FREE

Staff/ Board Members: £29 +vat (members) - £59 +vat (non members)

To book your place on this session, please click on this Zoom link https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYkce2spj4vHd0eX2dzdZ3zmalkrbOx9wqT

Please note - Following this update session, we will be hosting two additional FREE sessions to give tenants and local authority officers the opportunity to input into TPAS Cymru’s consultation response.  (Details below).  These sessions are a real opportunity to ensure nothing is missed. Tenant involvement is key to ensuring that future contracts are truly reflective of tenants needs and we can’t do that without hearing from you, as tenants and tenant facing teams.

Background

The Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 will make it simpler and easier to rent a home in Wales, replacing various, complex pieces of the existing legislation with one clear legal framework. New 'occupation contracts' will replace current residential tenancies and licenses. Implementation of the Act has been delayed over time for a number of reasons, but we are now finally at the stage where Welsh Government are consulting on a draft Model.

Our second session will take place on the 8th June: 10:30 – 12:00. This will be an opportunity for tenants to discuss with us their thoughts on how contracts should look in the future.

Our third session will take place on the 8th June: 13:30 – 15:00. This will be aimed at our Local Authority members who are in tenant facing roles and feel that they would like to shape contracts in the future.

Our fourth session will take place on the 10th June: 13.30 - 15.00.  This will be aimed at our Housing Association members who are in tenant facing roles and feel that they would like to shape contracts in the future
